10,000 Steps is a free health promotion program that aims to increase the day to day activity of Australians by encouraging them to use a step-counting pedometer to accumulate ‘incidental’ physical activity throughout the day. The interactive 10,000 Steps website allows you to track your steps and participate in challenges, either individually or as a team with friends, work mates and/or group members, to help you reach your step goals.
Put on a pedometer and see how many steps you do! Increase your steps by parking further away from your destination, taking the stairs instead of the lift or joining a Heart Foundation Walking group.

The National Heart Foundation of Australia and parkrun Australia have partnered to launch an exciting new spin on the Park Walks program and aim to get more Heart Foundation Walking participants enjoying their local parks. parkrun Australia organise free, weekly, 5km timed walks and runs around the country in pleasant parkland settings and other open spaces. They are volunteer led, open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.
Heart Foundation Walking members who list “Heart Foundation Walking” as their club when registering with parkrun automatically have their walks included as part of the Walker Recognition Scheme – another great reason to walk!
Last but certainly not least, our Heart Foundation Walking Volunteers. Our Volunteers are a vital part of our program and we wouldn't have such an outstanding program without them. We express our deepest gratitude for their contributions and willingness to get involved.
