Take the lead for better health

Want to start your own group? We'll help you every step of the way

Volunteer Walk Organisers set up and lead walking groups providing their community and invaluable opportunity to boost their health in a social and supportive way.

Walk Organisers also reap the health benefits of regular physical activity and witnessing the positive impact they have on the health and wellbeing of their group.

What's involved

  • Attend walks and welcome new walkers.
  • Promote your walks and encourage your community to join your group.
If you prefer, you can register a private group e.g. for your workplace, community group or family.
  • Keep your walking group and contact details up-to-date.
  • Submit monthly attendance records so we can reward your walkers

You'll receive:

  • Help managing your walking group online.

  • Support promoting and growing your group with free promotional materials such as brochures, flyers and editable posters.

  • Information about walking with free workshops, webinars and regular newsletters.

  • Insurance Cover: all registered Walk Organisers are covered by the Heart Foundation’s Policy for volunteer Walk Organisers

About you

If you’re enthusiastic, welcoming and over 18 years old, we invite you to start and lead a group. Walk Organisers are also required to act in accordance with Heart Foundation Values and Walk Organiser Terms & Conditions, including undertaking relevant background checks (eg. Partner with us

Heart Foundation Walking partners with organisations across Australia to help implement the program at a local level.

We support councils, GPs, hospitals, chemists, aged care facilities, cafes and more to start and support walking groups.

As a Host Organisation, you’ll receive training, tools to promote walking and access to your online profile with information on your walking groups and their activity.

Provide your local community with the chance to be more physically active.
