"I find being a part of Heart Foundation Walking good fun. I find walking fantastic as I have learnt that it can benefit your health and it’s helped maintain my overall fitness as well as have lost a few kilos. I've also met a lot of new people and have made some good friends along the way. I hope that more people join the Heart Foundation Walkingwalking group as Brisbane city is such a beautiful place to walk in.”

Karen Cronin, Walk Organiser

"I have been walking for over a year with Heart Foundation Walking. My experience has been wonderful, not just for the physical aspects but the social as well. One of the walking groups I started in Jindalee, a beachside suburb in W.A, has become an extended friendship group. We’re constantly meeting different people. I’ve learnt that there a lot of people that want the service that is provided by Heart Foundation Walkingand that it’s a service that provides what is needed in the community. There are many individuals who want to come together but don’t now know where to start and so being involved in the program is an easy and nice way of getting people together and enabling us to walk in a great environment."

Lucy, Walker

“My fitness level has improved, spurred on by the support of fellow walkers – great social contact and have made many friends.”

Jenny, Walker

“Because I suffer from depression, making the effort to go walking as well as spending time after having coffee and talking with others has help me a lot.”

Gordon & Margaret, Walkers

“Joining our walking group was the best thing that happened to us. We met each other and were married at the beginning of this year. We had known each other before but hadn’t seen one another for over 40 yrs. Good things do happen at walking groups.”

My Walking Story

Are you a keen walker or part of a Heart Foundation Walking Group?

The sharing of personal stories is crucial for engaging with the community and raising awareness about the importance of physical activity for your overall health. The simple act of walking for 30 minutes a day or more can reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease by as much as half.

If you are one of these people and would like to help us educate the community by sharing your story we are truly grateful. The first step is for you to complete the questionnaire at the below link. We will then contact you and discuss how and when your story could be shared.

Tell us your story!
